Create New User - Windows 2000 Professional (workstation)

· Start - setting - Control Panel
· Administrative tools - computer management
· Local users and groups
· Click once on Users
· Right click on the right screen side
· Add new user
· Add new user name e.g. 'Dory' and then uncheck 'user must change password at next logon' and check 'user can't change password' and 'password never expires'
· Click Create
· Close windows


Installing Active Directory - (Server)

· Start
· Programs
· Administrative tools
· Configure Server
· Active Directory
· Start
· Go through Active Directory installation Wizard e.g. DNS Name = student41.com.au


Create New User - Windows 2000 Server

· We installed the Active Directory as shown above. Now we are going to create our users
· Start, programs, administrative tools, active directory, users and computers
· Double click on the domain name (student41.com.au )
· Right click on right hand side of the screen, new, user
· Type your name - user logon name - e.g. Dory
· Next
· Check 'user can't change password' and 'password never expires'
· Next and finish


Windows 2000 Professional (workstation) - Now we join the Domain

· Start, settings, control panel, system
· Network identification, properties
· Member of Domain
· Type in your domain name (student 41)
· OK
· Name type - Adminstrator
· Password type - Password
